THREATENING YOUR CUSTOMERS TO FORCE A PURCHASE IS A BAD IDEA

Even online, the French struggle with “customer service”. A retailer of running shoes, i-Run, has been sending me monthly e-mails warning that the €8.29 credit I had after buying from them will expire today, if I do not re-order immediately.

They’ve just sent me a confirmation: “Hey, we’d like you to know that despite the best of our efforts, you’d lost your money! Enjoy and recommend us to your friends.”

OK, thanks, I’ll add that negative limbic valence to my pre-existing annoyance with them:

  1. requesting a scan of my ID + my electricity bill to purchase a pair of Asics
  2. having to self-ship and pay for returns of ill-fitting shoes — no, they do not even offer a shipping label

So, when considering my next pair… i-Run, not recommend. 🤦🏻‍♂️
